  • Alice Haefke It seems that simply having pit bulls around may lead to violence, not just in the mode of the dogs attacking people and pets, but in people attacking people.  .................................... http://www.courtnewsreport.com/archives/013778.html

  • Sierra Rory Smith If the article's commenter claiming to be a neighbor has any validity, there is a lot that is left out and twisted in this article.

  • BJ Bromer Its sad that someone lost his life. But it should not surprise us. These Land Sharks get away with murdering children. There will be more incidents like this involving PB nutters.

  • Julie Russell Weyer So, a person goes to jail (probably for a very long time) for shooting the owner of a loose pitbull that attacked his dog (which I do not condone at all). What would have happened to the owner of the pitbull if it attacked and killed the neighbor? Probably nothing...

  • Karisa Bonts If this PitBull is euthanized over this incident it may end up saving the lives of those three children. This is a tragedy but there is still another tragedy in the works a aggressive Pitt that has attacked... Lets not forget that. Maybe a life can still be saved.

  • Georgiana Guest Reynoso Just went to the site link and read this comment by John Doe "This is fairly inaccurate account of what happened. Navarro led his dog down the road and let his dog attack a friendly lab all while Navarro's dog was still on a leash. It took one of the teens living at the residence and another neighbor to separate the dogs and get Navarro to leave. The attack also did not happen in front of Navarro's residence it happened 2 houses down where he chased down and trapped Nelson between vehicles. What is also left out of the report is that Navarro was recently released jail and heavily intoxicated. I don't mean to sound like I am attacking the Navarros and I am sorry for their loss, I just don't like seeing the antagonist made out to be the victim." and "The dog was not involved during the shooting. The owner of the lab was not at home during the the dog attack. The incident occurred after the owner returned home and confronted Navarro and was only 1 house away from returning home when Navarro cornered Nelson." So according to this person, Navarro, a felon and intoxicated, cornered the man who shot him, and this didn't involve the dogs at the time of the shooting. Hmmm. Be interested to follow this and see what official info come out on it and if the above comments are accurate.

    • Joe Mclamb I read a similar story today where a man defended his neighbors in their front yard against a gang of teens. He popped one of em with a bat and the media made the little animal out to be the victim.

    • Georgiana Guest Reynoso Well if John Doe was actually a witness to this, as I am reading it, it means an aggressive and inebriated Navarro went to a house with only a couple of teens at home with the parent/neighbor/owner gone at the time, and Navarro, just out of jail, purposely took his pit bull down to the neighbor's to attack the neighbor's friendly lab for a couple of yuks, and not just for the laughs, probably because he got off on it for whatever reason. One of the kids and a neighbor were able to get the pit off the poor lab and somehow got the bullying Navarro and his pit bull to leave. The owner came home, found out what happened to his dog and kids, became incensed, and went down the street to tell Navarro off, bringing along with him two friends. Words were exchanged, and then the neighbor headed back home with his two friends. They were one house away from home when Navarro, drunk and violent, chased after them, and trapped Nelson. What he didn't count on was that Nelson was armed and actually prepared to defend himself against someone like Navarro. I am interested in reading the official police report. Seems a clear cut case of self defense on Nelson's part. When Navarro brought the dog down to fight and intimidate, the kids should have called the cops. Maybe they called dad instead, and that is why he came home to deal with it. I wonder if there was an ongoing dispute with the neighbor and Navarro. I wonder what Navarro had just gotten out of jail for, I wonder if he was a member of a gang, you know, what kind of criminal was he? But John Doe's comments indicate Navarro to be probably the worst kind of neighbor you could ever hope to never have anywhere near you, a bullying, inebriated, criminal with a pit bull he liked to use as intimidation and a weapon, and Navarro not restrained from threatening kids and a helpless animal with his pit bull, in other words a real swell guy. Not.

  • Viv Smitt Very interesting Georgiana Reynoso- sounds about right. They push and bully and then when someone finally retaliates, they play victim. The man should have shot the dog, not the man no doubt. But clearly, he was pushed too far.
