The most pathetic, annoying, depressing, disturbing & embarrassing of incidents aren't only INEVITABLE on a sitcom--but are also, somehow portrayed as being ultimately HILARIOUS when delivered on a sitcom.
So, what I've been doing lately is--I convince myself I'm a character on a sitcom. I really do--And it's absolutely true that my outlook and reactions to such incidents have been a lot more positive since. It's because I'm perceiving it all in a comical light. -And you CAN create a comical view of almost any situation if you're manipulative & dark enough.
Life itself is already bizarre to begin with, so start from there; the human condition is a great many things, but few ever see it as funny [due to ego]--but it definitely is funny in certain aspects.
But yes, I recommend adopting this thinking mechanism which I call "sit-comming". It's an easier form of "mindful thinking", in my opinion. It works in the most stressful of situations. Rude coworker? Kid throwin' a tantrum in public? Fender bender? Going broke? Caught in a lie? Hyper-sensitive partner? Someone stole your bike? You binged on Cinnamon Toast Crunch? Hungover? Failing class? Lost a finger? Passive aggressive roommate? House a wreck? Don't have a house?
-Imagine it's all taking place in the form of a sitcom, acted out; laugh-track is in the background--and you're the leading role.
Now, it's hysterical. You can lighten up a little & forgive the circumstance some.
When sitcomming, you're dropping your ego and taking everything less seriously.
There's rewarding beauty in that.
Sitcomming=Winning
Humor=Longevity
